From August 24 to 26, the 2018 National Symposium on the Remediation of Black and Odorous Urban Water Bodies and Ecological Restoration of Aquatic Environments, along with a seminar on remediation models for such water bodies, was held in Qingdao, Shandong. The event was co-organized by the Shandong Provincial Analytical Testing Center of the Beijing Zhongshui Huaneng Information Technology Research Institute, the School of Environmental and Municipal Engineering at North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, the School of Environmental and Safety Engineering at Qingdao University of Science and Technology, and the Qingdao Environmental Engineering Design Institute. HaoYang Environmental Co.,Ltd. was invited to attend the symposium.

　　Leading domestic experts from institutions and agencies—including the Environmental Planning Institute of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, the Shandong Provincial Analytical Testing Center of the Shandong Academy of Sciences, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, and Hohai University—delivered insightful presentations on the latest developments in the remediation of black‑odor water bodies and the establishment of long‑term governance mechanisms; the application of microbial technologies and related solutions in river channels and black‑odor water bodies; and systems‑thinking approaches to river and lake management in the new era. Participants also visited and inspected the renovation sites of Dingjia River and the Tangdao Bay South Bank Park project in Qingdao.
